Management/Leadership Team - 3rd Platoon Deputy Chief - Matthew H. Queen
Matthew Queen is a Deputy Fire Chief with the Miami Township Division of Fire & EMS currently assigned to the 24/48 hour tour of duty as the shift commander for 3rd Platoon. Deputy Chief Queen is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Quality Management from Southwestern College in Wichita, Kansas.
Deputy Chief Queen is a 2003 graduate of the Ohio Fire Executive program. This is a 2 year program administered on The Ohio State University campus by the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association.
Deputy Chief Queen is a 17 year veteran of the fire service, beginning his career with the New Lebanon Fire Department in 1989 following graduation from high school. He has also spent time with the City of West Carrollton and City of Moraine Fire Departments in a part-time capacity while pursuing training and educational endeavors.
In the spring of 1994, He was hired to fill a career position with the Miami Township Division of Fire & EMS, where he continued to pursue the mission of the fire division as an active member with 2nd Platoon. In 1997, following a successful completion of candidate testing, he was promoted to lieutenant where he began his duties as shift lieutenant with 3rd Platoon.
Following a successful candidate assessment, he was promoted to his current position in 2003. Deputy Chief Queen is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the fire suppression activities and equipment; the apparatus and facility maintenance program and is the Quartermaster for the Division.
He currently resides with his wife and three children in New Lebanon which is short 25 minute drive from Miami Township.
