Management/Leadership Team - 1st Platoon Deputy Chief - Joe McLean

Deputy Chief Joe McLean joined the Miami Township Division of Fire/EMS in June 2005. Deputy Chief McLean proudly works with the First Platoon, with two lieutenants, seven FT firefighters and 10 PT firefighters. Prior to Miami Township he served with the York County, Virginia Department of Fire and Life Safety from 1991-2005. Deputy Chief McLean started in the Hampton, Virginia Fire-Rescue Division as a volunteer, serving from 1988-1992.  From 1996-2000 he served with the Abingdon, Virginia Rescue Squad. From 2002-2005 he served an adjunct instructor with the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.

Deputy Chief McLean has a B.S. in Fire Administration from Hampton University and is pursuing a Master’s in Public Safety Leadership from Grand Canyon University. He is in his second year of EFO at the National Fire Academy. Deputy Chief McLean is a graduate of the Hampton Roads Fire Officer Command School and Senior Command Series. Deputy Chief McLean serves on The Miami Valley Fire EMS Alliance Health and Wellness Committee and Incident Management Team Committee. Deputy Chief McLean resides in Miami Township with his wife, Rebecca.
