Lieutenant Jim Baber started his fire service career in 1991 at Miamisburg Fire Department. While working for Miamisburg Lt. Baber completed his fire and paramedic training and participated in the SCUBA rescue and recovery team and the public education team. He was one of the Swiftwater Rescue Instructors certified through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Lt Baber was selected as Fire Fighter of the year in 1992 for his work on the public education team. He also proudly served as the Local 3115 Vice President. 

In 1995 Lt. Baber moved to Franklin, Tennessee to join with the Franklin Fire Department. While in Tennessee he acted as the Engineer on Tower 3. He was also a founding member of Franklin Fire Fighters Association Local 3758 where he proudly served as Vice President.

1998 brought Lt. Baber back to the Miami Valley. He has been an active member of the Miami Township Fire Division since his return. He has been involved in updating the training aspect of the division through the Special Operations Group since its inception. He implemented the current use of CAD software to update the map and commercial complex books. Lt. Baber is a certified Swiftwater Rescue Instructor by both Rescue 3 International and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and a State of Ohio Fire Instructor. He is also certified as an Ice Rescue Instructor through Dive Rescue International. Currently he sits on the Water Technical Advisory Committee for the State of Ohio. Lt. Baber was promoted from Fire Fighter to Lieutenant in 2002. He has proudly served as Vice President and currently serves as President of Local 2951 Miami Township Career Fire Fighters.

Lt. Baber is married and has three daughters. He resides in Springboro, Ohio which is located in Warren County.
